Hope is an Amazing Gift

Hope is an amazing gift!” That is what a sign reads that sits in my office. When I glance at it, it is a wonderful reminder that it is larger than a breadbox and can never be packaged or wrapped.

Hope is one of the strongest attributes to have. It is much more than wishful thinking. It can move mountains. Why is hope so important? It brings encouragement, trust, persistence, and strength. It is a sense of light in a dark place. Especially when recognizing this year has been filled with challenges and has stretched each of us in many capacities. This simple thought of Hope is both calming and peaceful. Hope leads to something better than the current circumstances. It offers peace instead of confusion.

Reflecting on these ideas, and in our Holiday season, the hope of shelter has always been a need. The nativity scene is all about shelter. Joseph and Mary hoped for shelter leading right up to the time of the birth of baby Jesus. Being turned away for lack of shelter, they found shelter in a barn. It was perfect for their needs and welcoming the most precious gift imaginable. They relied on hope, rested in hope.

Looking into our hearts, we at Crystal Coast Habitat for Humanity know all about shelter and hope. How many low-income families share the same hope for their families? A place of safety, love, nourishment, growth, and stability? The very nature of our mission is to help provide the capacity for those families to achieve strength, stability, self-reliance through shelter. We welcome you to move the needle along on this very real need and donate to our cause. Currently, we have a Giving Tree up for the month of December. We welcome you to go online and choose an amount you would like to donate. We have 16 New Homes being built for 16 Families starting in 2021. Talk about HOPE. And this is hope manifested! The Jenkin’s are our first selected family (pictured).

In this gift-giving season, give the gift of hope for one of our future Habitat Home Families.

For the duration of our Holiday Season and beyond,  we wish you Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love to you and your families. Recognizing that only blessings follow.

Merry Christmas – Your Habitat Team
