Bringing it Home

Bringing it Home.

“Bringing it home” is defined as making something more clear by seeing the situation more closely. When one thing happens which shows you that something is real, that “brings it home”.

As we finish up our 100th Habit House, this is the vibe –  Yes!!  Success!! It is the realization that something really really good has come to fruition in a year of adaptation and clearing new ways to take care of business.  In our case – Building homes for the low-income families in Carteret and Onslow Counties.  Recognizing that this month is Thanksgiving, what better time to take a step back, be quiet, reflect, and recognize all the good that has come to each of us in some fashion.

The good of this particular home is somewhat nostalgic for everyone involved. We are able to welcome the Reel Family into a new home for the holidays.  Sweat equity hours, commitment to our program, and the permanence of a house of their own and not a rental brings the mental amenities of Home Sweet Home into their reality.

The good for Volunteers and Staff  is equally exciting. It is the 100th New Habitat Home for Crystal Coast Habitat for Humanity. Because Crystal Coast Habitat had to close its doors in March due to the pandemic, it meant that we had to temporarily stop work on the house. That meant no volunteers to help with the build.

We cleared ways to make progress during the ‘down’ time,  and made adjustments, thinking outside the box during each stage of our ‘pandemic normal’ and got back on track with all involved.   Prior to the closure, Leadership Carteret made this their community project.  Their dedicated hours set a firm foundation for its continuation once we were able to open in late June.  Bringing back volunteers, we were able to steadily complete the inside and outside or the house.  Check out the Under Construction”  on our website page.

This 100th home was not only a goal, but proof that Crystal Coast Habitat for Humanity’s housing organization mission WORKS.   Our VISION: “A world where everyone has a decent place to live.” MISSION STATEMENT: “Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.”

“For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.”  (Mark 4:28).  This quote represents our newest home.  This is the thought for every new home we build.  Bringing it Home!

Please consider a donation in any amount to put towards our next 16 new homes planned in 2021.

On behalf of the Crystal Coast Habitat Humanity Team – Happy Thanksgiving.
